Some verses from my Bible reading

1 Corinthians 1:9 Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that wee might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

Romans 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

Romans 8:1-2 Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

Psalm 119:116 Sustain me according to Your word, that
I may live;
And do not let me be ashamed of my
Hope.

Prayer and the Word

I was reading John Piper's Desiring God the other day. In it Piper was discussing the Word and how it works in the Christian life. He brought up the point that it is often through the Word that the Spirit speaks. In the chapter was included an anecdote from the life of George Mueller. Mueller was a man who famously lived by faith and ran orphanages in London in the 19th century. Mueller wrote that he would often start his day praying, but it would take him 15-30 minutes before all distractions ceased. One day God gave him the inspiration to read the Word first and then pray. Doing this, Mueller wasn't distracted and found himself soon jumping right into prayer. I'm trying to implement this into my own life and am finding that it works!

Ireland!

coast off Bangor, Northern Ireland

Hello all! Sorry for the lull. A lot has happened since last I updated. I went on spiritual retreat to Northern Ireland. It was awesome! I got to see old haunts and new ones. I was taken in by the family of some friends at Re:Hope. It was a real blessing! God has really been ironing out a lot of my wrinkles lately, it hasn't been a pleasant process, but a necessary one. A lot of the wrinkles have had to do with freedom in Christ. Anyhow, that's it for me now.
